Every morning you wake up and start your day in the same way as yesterday, a week before, 6 months before, years before. You try not to think about your life and possible perspectives because you think you’ve already had too many problems to solve. Deep inside of you, you know that you deserve something better, something different and you keep waiting for someone who will come and give everything to you.
Does it sound familiar?
I think many people live with the feeling that everything around them is for temporarily. Sooner or later everything will change into something better. I know, it is so much more comfortable to think like that and blame the fortune in the way how your life goes.
Unfortunately, this is not what is going to make you happy. Only you can do it yourself. Only you can live your life the way you want it to be.
So, how come you make yourself’s life worse? Is it even possible? Sadly it is. There might be dozens of different reasons of why you don’t take all chances to change your life. You can be scared, you can be avoiding responsibilities, or not feeling self-confident enough. Whatever it is, you need to fight it as soon as possible!
What stops you from having the life of your dreams?
Do you feel like you are living someone else’s life? Do you like where you are and what you do? If you have a chance and opportunity to change something in your life to make it better, why don’t you do it?
Let’s now analyze what exactly stops you from having the life of your dreams. It will help you to understand where should you focus in order to solve it.
#1 Are you scared? Yes, taking a serious decision is not easy. But it’s nothing, compared to all the pluses you could achieve. Instead, you should think about the perspective of NOT making a decision right now: aren’t you scared to wake up some day 10 years later and realize that you have wasted 10 more years on something that you didn’t even enjoy? That’s is a nightmare. Don’t waste your time! Find courage.
#2 Taking responsibilities. Admit it, almost all of the previous choices of yours were made by someone else. You studied in college because that’s the way it should be; you dated a nice guy/girl because your parents liked him/her, you had a job that was OK, but nothing more. The only plus in that job was that you had it. But it’s time to make your own decisions. I know, if you fail, there will be no one to blame. But from the other side, if you succeed it will be your greatest achievement. Take a responsibility for your life choices. Adult up! (You can read about how to adult up without losing your mind in my other post HERE).
#3 The fear of changing the lifestyle you got used to. Maybe you feel very comfortable right here and right now. If it is the only thing that you need for happiness then ok, it’s your life. But if not, you probably feel terrified not knowing what to expect when you start from zero. Starting from the very beginning is hard, especially when you are already not in your early twenties. But if you are not in your early twenties then you have to change something in your life to find what it’s making you happy as soon as possible. Don’t be afraid of changes. Changes are the adventure!
#4 Lack of self-confidence. I have talked so many times about self-confidence (find my posts HERE and HERE) and how important it is. And I won’t stop talking about it. I have a friend, who has worked in a good company for 5 years already. She wants to move to another city, but she is so damn afraid of not getting a decent job and not being able to solve out everything on her own. I wish I could convince her, that she has gained a great experience already, and she only needs to draw out her hand and get the awesome job wherever she wants. Don’t underestimate your value. You are unique, experienced, hard working. You can achieve something more if only you make the first step.
#5 Afraid of being alone. So many psychologists say that it is a common problem of many people. You stay with someone you don’t love just because of the fear of staying alone. What can be worse than that? I know: catching the first (even worse) opportunity. Sometimes, it can turn out really sad, they waste years together. Start making decisions for yourself. You don’t need a man to be happy (you are lucky if you have one, but it’s not the key to success). You should always rely on yourself.
As you can see, most of the things that stop you from getting the life that you want, are in your head! In order to be successful, happy, and have a life of your dreams, you need to start thinking on your own. It is not a secret that Santa doesn’t exist. No one knows what you want better than you do! So go ahead and take all chances to make the life to be one of your dreams! It might be a bit harder than you think in the beginning, but all of it worth doing to become happy about where you are and what you do!
Never forget: you are beautiful! You are strong! You are unique! And you have all the necessary characteristics to achieve what you want, to become someone who you’ve always wanted to be.
